The simplest Meatballs

  • 600g/22 oz ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp. panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp. dried thyme
  • 1 tbsp. peanut oil
  • 250g/9 oz tomato passata or homemade tomato sauce
  • Salt and pepper

Use your hands to mix the ground beef with the egg, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper and thyme mixture. Heat a tablespoon of oil in a large frying pan and fry the meatballs until golden brown. Add the tomato sauce and stir carefully. Leave to simmer gently for another few minutes. Serve with cooked spaghetti (250-300gr) grated Parmesan and a fewbasil leaves.
