Greek Burger with yogurt sauce

Ingredients
  • 500g/1.1 lbs minced beef
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 bunch coriander, finely chopped
  • 1 red chilli pepper, deseeded and finely chopped
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon peanut oil
  • 150g/5.3 oz Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cucumber, diced
  • 1 bunch fresh mint, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1/4 head lettuce
  • 4 pitta breads
Preparation

In a bowl, mix the minced beef with the cumin, coriander, chilli pepper, garlic, onion and egg. Season with salt and pepper. Mix well and shape into 8 small meatballs. Allow to firm up in the refrigerator for a while. Heat the peanut oil in a frying pan and fry the meatballs for 2 minuteson each side. Set aside (keep warm).In a bowl, mix the yogurt with the cucumber and mint. Season with salt and pepper.Heat the pita breads in the toaster or under the grill. Cut them open and stuff each one with lettuce and 2 meatballs. Spoon a little yogurt sauce on top.
